After 2 weeks away I had a sudden realisation that there are 20 year old songs eligble for 90mm. 20 years old. 20. Christ.
Looking over Wikipedia's '1990 in Music' it's kind of odd noticing that Green Day's "39/Smooth" was released then, in the same month as this song
since, in my head they feel part of very different times. A product, possibly of the way I organise my physical music by a sort of radix sort of genre and colour. It's possible that admitting stuff like that is why people stay away from me at parties. Apart from when they throw things. Although even then it may just because they like to hear the muted sobbing.
The video is, allegedly, inspired by the iconography of famed Stainedglass Window botherers Gilbert and George although I don't quite see it myself. It's possible there are multiple versions of the video.
Carter USM did a memorable copy, made even more Pop Culture savoury by the fact that the backing vocals were done by a then unknown Noel "Oasis" Gallagher
[this is good] ...former (future?) roadie for the Inspiral Carpets, Noel Gallagher.
Now I will have to listen to the Inspirals all day. Damn you.
